AES345 Blink and You’ll Miss It

Have you ever felt like time was moving too fast?

These last few years felt like a blur to me. And there’s no better time to be reminded about the passage of time than your birthday. Going through another revolution of our planet around the sun, a cosmic phenomena that’s too grand for our brains to truly comprehend, and yet it’s only a brief heartbeat in the cosmic timeline.

It’s crazy to me how several years ago can feel like only yesterday. I know you can relate to that feeling as well. It is scientifically proven that as we age, our brain takes fewer “photographs” of each second in our lives. As children we were wide eyed and curious, everything was new and exciting. Even the most normal everyday objects can be a source of endless wonder to a child’s mind. But as we get older, things start to change. We start settling into a routine, nothing new surprises us anymore, we grow to be cynical and restrained in our view of the world. And so the years keep falling through like sand in an hourglass.

All throughout the course of my life, I’ve had plenty of happy and sad memories, moments that I swore I won’t ever forget. I wonder how many memories I’ve eventually forgotten about, despite my promise not to. But I think that eventually, it’s okay… We shouldn’t try to live in the past, especially in regrets and sadness. Life isn’t something you can rewind and rewatch like a movie. It keeps moving forward, and so should we.

But every once in a while, something pulls me out of my autopilot state within my routine, like the universe itself is shaking me awake. It’s as if a haze has been lifted from my vision, and I am reminded to see the beauty in the little things. I’m suddenly aware that I’m actually alive, I have a mind and body that’s entirely under my control. I am reminded of the fact that whatever you want to do, and whoever you want to be, is entirely up to you.

Going through memories for me, are reminders to be grateful. Of what you have, who you are, what you’ve been through.., That the people that have been at your side, even if they’re not physically there now, they’re still there. And their dreams are with you, as yours is with them. And if you’re having difficulties living for yourself, then live for them. Do the best with what you have, for the sake of others.

Time is the most precious non-renewable resource we have, and each of us has a different amount left. There’s no way of knowing how much time we have left, be it decades or days, the goal stays the same; All we can try and do, is not to waste any of it.

“One day you’ll eat your last meal, smell your last flower, hug your friend for the very last time. You might not know that it’s the last time, so that’s why you should do everything you love with passion, y’know? Treasure the few years you’ve got, because that’s all there is.”

Time forever slips away, With the setting sun and each dawn of a day. The blossoms give way to falling leaves, Another life taken; their fa…

AES277 Now’s The Time

If a poem you would write, Now's the time! Ne'er was epic yet or sonnet Captured but by leaping on it; Pegasus depend upon it, Knows his time. If you have a task to do, Now's the time! Now, while you've a notion to it; Now, while zeal will help you do it; Or in shame you'll hobble through it, Out o…

AES256 A Moment Too Late

A moment too late, my beautiful bird, A moment too late are you now; The wind has your soft, downy nest disturbed— The nest that you hung on the bough. A moment too late; that string in your bill, Would have fastened it firmly and strong; But see, there it goes, rolling over the hill! Oh, you staye…
