AES44 Failosophy by Elizabeth Day

Saskia Electrapenulis arsip2

I finishes this book quite a long time ago but since I have no idea what to write so I’ll just share some things about this book. In Failosophy Elizabeth Day brings together all the lessons she has learned, from conversations with the guests on her award-winning How to Fail podcast, from stories shared with her by readers and listeners, and from her own life, and distills them into seven principles of failure.

I found this book when I was just casually strolling around a bookstore, and I thought this seems interesting. This book isn’t like a book that blew my mind but it is a good read. I think how Elizabeth Day explains things in this book is pretty easy to understand, and she put everyday examples that really help me to understand what she’s talking about. I also love how she has a really wide point of view because I feel like she takes things from the people she meets and she actually listens to people’s stories which helped her to realize and define failure in a new way.

She also puts many little quotes between the pages and those quotes just hit the right spot. One of my favorites is “Success is a personal perception” and “I look back and I go ‘what an idiot’ But it’s great because I’ve learned from it and I’ll never do it again”. Sometimes we don’t realize that the reason we feel like a failure is because of the way we define our success and achievements, how we set standards or qualifications for ourselves. And we shouldn’t be beating ourselves up for failing, on the other hand, we should evaluate ourselves and see how we can progress. She also talks about the seven failure principles. It’s very interesting the way that she explains those 7 points.

I would recommend this book for anyone really but from a perspective of a teenager, I think this is a good book to read. Really to just open our minds and re-set how we see failure because sometimes it really is a crucial point. When we judge ourselves as failures, it can keep us away from progressing. So I would really recommend this book. I got this from periplus, but it’s available at books&beyonds. You can check their website or you can look up their official store at shopee.
