AES03 The Work

tulisan ini sudah beberapa waktu nangkring di HP saya, entah kenapa pengennya nulis pakai bahasa inggris yang seadanya, mohon maklum kalau ada salah ini itu, semoga tulisannya tetap bisa bermanfaat. 

The work, my definition, it’s something we do in everyday life, no matter you as an office worker, a house worker, a mom, a child, a father. By working we contribute to the world, with the hope that the contribution bring the world a better place to live in. 

But when we label the things we do with the work “work” it comes with a baggage of expectations. Achieving goals, positive progress day by day, no place for failure, and so on the list goes long. Then we tempted to dismiss our feelings to meet the expectation. We then think that this is the goals that we live in, so our feelings that not align with the expectation cannot get in the way or I’ll be less productive and having less value to the world. Then it becomes complicated.

We are then become detached to our human instincts, to our feeling, to our basic needs, to our curiosity, and to our basic functions. 

The human can work in proper way when we treated as human, like it or not human we human work in a special way like other creatures do. We need others as we are social creatures, we need nature, and we need God for sure. We need to be able to account ourself as a well-functioning creature for delivering a proper work to the world. Therefore, basic needs of humans need to be fulfilled. To have the purpose, to have control of ourselves, to be acknowledged by others for the feelings that we have and teh effort that we do, to be treated fairly by others, the be supported by others, to explore our curiosity of things, and to be able to learn. 

Human is not a machine, human is a unique creature with feelings and intelligence. Let’s make the world a better place by treating others as human.
