AES07 5200 Weeks

If you are reading this, then you are among the lucky few blessed with this thing called life. It can be beautiful, scary, sad, funny and a million other things, but what it is most of the time, is overwhelming. Most of us spend every day busy with work or studies that we simply do not have the time or energy to grasp the context, meaning and direction of our lives. And I think it’s important to evaluate your life sometimes, and doing so within the point of view of time can be very profound, so let me give you some perspective.

The average human being has a lifespan of around 72 years old globally, and very few people get to live to 100, but for the sake of this anecdote, let’s assume you’re one of the lucky ones. If you do get to live to 100, you have around 5.200 weeks of your life to spend, now that might sound like a lot to you, or maybe it sounds scarily low, but that’s the best case scenario any of us could hope for. 

I am now 20 years old, I’ve gone through childhood and my teenage years, in doing so I’ve used more than 1000 weeks of my life, and the scary thing is that it passed by so quickly, and it will go by even quicker each year. Our lives are precious and fleeting, we have to discover what’s truly important for us, because if we just keep blowing through each day without meaning and purpose, someday, we will run out of time. Don’t take anything for granted, because the things and people that are here today may not be tomorrow. Think about your dreams, your goals, the people that you love, and what you want out of this life, because in the end, it may be the only one that we get.
