AES34 Gen Z & The Idea of Having Children

As a gen z myself, I know that my generation doesn’t really have an interest in having children. And sometimes older people will call us selfish for that, but they don’t really get our point of view on this topic. So Im going to try to explain why most gen z doesn’t want to have children. 

First of all sad to admit but the world is just crazy, it’s just complicated and messed up so we don’t see the point of bringing another life to the world. The world is also so overpopulated and again why should we have a child when the world is overpopulated? We just don’t want another soul to experience the bad things that we have experienced, we just feel bad.

 And we know that most of us are not capable of raising a child. Let’s just be realistic, most gen z have serious mental health issues and I don’t think people with mental health issues should be raising a child. Like me having crazing anxiety and anger issues, I just don’t want to hurt anyone. And I know how it feels like to be growing around family members that are emotionally damaged, and traumatized. The trauma is passed down. That’s why I promised myself if I ever want to have children I need to be mentally stable, and that’s really a challenge for me. 

Having a child is expensive, it is we have to admit. Because Im a child and I know how much I cost, I mean like these days humans need so much more than back then. So having a child is an expensive decision. Again, I think that most gen z are just trying everything to pay for their own living, we can’t really afford a child. 

I don’t get why older generations call us selfish for choosing to not have children. When we’re just being realistic, we can’t afford a child and were not on the mental level that can have a child. We just know ourselves and we don’t want poor children to be victims of our mental instability. We don’t want to do what most of our family and parents did to us. 

I think is completely someone’s choice what to do with their time/money/body. Not all women want to carry a baby for 9 months and that’s okay. Because to be honest I know how crazy period pain is and people say that giving birth is 10x worst so, I see why some women don’t want to experience that.  Not everyone wants to spend and time raising a child. You know what you want to do with life, what you are capable of, and what makes you happy. So it’s your life your choice.  

But totally no hate towards people who choose to have children, good for you. As long as you know that you are capable of raising kids and you actually want them it’s totally fine. Don’t get me wrong I know many amazing parents, and I am so impressed by their capability. I hope my explanation is clear. In conclusion, gen z just knows their capability and issues and how they would affect other things including a child.
