AES70 Start Small, Start Now
I would consider myself as someone who dreams big, I think I have a big vision for my future life. But sometimes when you want to achieve something big you need to start small. Because small steps can lead to big impacts, and small steps are more realistic and easier to achieve.
For example, it’s not a secret now I have a passion for feminism and gender equality. I always wonder to myself how can I help to make this world gender-equal. I thought it has to be something that’s very complex and difficult for me at this age to do. But then one day it hit me, that I think too much I need to start doing something. To be honest I was so scared that people around me would reject these feminist theories or believes that I have. So I convinced myself to start talking about feminism through my Instagram story, I didn’t know would it make an impact, but at least I tried.
After I guess about one year of consistently posting feminism-related content, one of my friends Lula she reached out to me. And she said that now she is a feminist and she stands equality, and she said it was because of me. Those words mean the world to me, that was such an achievement. I was so proud of myself that one person could be a feminist because of me.
Some people also find it annoying how I always post-feminist-related things, well I think everyone has a right to say that. But I don’t let their words get to me, because I know for sure that what I am doing is for the greater good.
I personally think this is one of the biggest lessons I learned this year. Is realizing that something big is just a combination of small and consistent steps. That’s why I always try to be consistent and contribute the best way that I can. And to just start doing something, because if you don’t make the first step your not going anywhere.
