AES99 Glorification of Motherhood
Since I was a child I noticed that because I was a girl people around me would push me to love and fantasize about motherhood. It’s almost like everyone Is an eater directly or none directly trying to push me to want to have a motherly scroll in my future. you can see how little girl's toys are most often baby dolls, cooking toys, or Barbies. even in the marketing of the toy, it's trying to sort of train us young girls for domestic work and motherly roles.
Don't get me wrong I think someone that chooses to be a mother is amazing, but our society needs to understand that it's not for everyone. and the thing about how our society portrays motherhood is so linked towards domestic work. It's always about the mom cooking the mom cleaning the mom taking care of the baby. The way our society pictures motherhood is just kind of odd.
And the thing about romanticizing and glorifying motherhood is that you're not giving the real picture of it. Motherhood is not just about going to your kid's soccer play so much more than that and not everyone is capable to do that. Society is spacing between scamming these little girls to thinking that they have to be a mother. Therefore these girls that will soon be women when let's say they hit 30 and they don't have a husband and a kid there will be insecure and stressed.
The other thing about this is that Society also portrays motherhood as a full-time job. and it brings to the assumption that women that decide to have a child cannot have a career. even some women that have children are considered unprofessional or untrustworthy. The glorification and romanticization of motherhood are so bad even toxic towards girls and women.
Being a mother is an amazing role, but sometimes it's not for everyone. And our society needs to learn to respect women that do not see motherhood as a role that they want to take. It's completely their choice and it doesn't make them less of a successful and valuable woman.
