AES40 Hardworking vs Overworking

Saskia Electrapenulis arsip2

I feel like hustle culture is just so insane to the fact that sometimes I can’t even cancel plans because im tired, so it’s like taking a rest isn’t necessary. I use to think that overworking is hard working, but now I’ve come to realize that they are two different things. In my opinion, the real definition of hard-working is understanding your capability and capacity and making the most out of it.

I believe that every single human being is different, their unique. Everyone has their own capacity and I think we should know and we should communicate our capacity. Because like I have some really bad experience with this when I push things that I know for sure are out of my capacity I literally go insane. I would say progress is important, but when your “hard-working” is making you go insane it’s not healthy. It’s not good in a long-term concept.

I feel like the key to stop overworking is to know the signs of your version of overworking. For me, my anxiety is my alarm system so when Im overworking I get headaches or dizziness. At that point, I would stop what im doing and go for a 10-minute walk around my house, do some little stretches. Or I would get a snack just to boost my energy. So you have to know how does your body reacts so you know the alarm system of your body. And please actually listen to your body, because that is the key.

In conclusion, please rest. When I put taking a rest as something important it changes my life. You can totally cancel something because you need a nap. Just listen to your body and take care of your body (that includes your mental health). Believe me, you can be a hard worker without overworking and exhausting yourself.
